Common mistakes

• Trailing comma after the final property. Fix: remove the comma because standard JSON does not allow it.
• Property names written without double quotes. Fix: quote every object key, including keys that look like identifiers.
• A missing closing brace or bracket. Fix: start at the first parser position and balance the innermost object or array first.

• Validate the source first when formatting reports an error; indentation cannot repair malformed data.
• Compare parsed values rather than whitespace when reviewing the formatted result.
